Most mornings this time of year start a little earlier around Camp Nugget.
Long before the Georgia heat settles in, Nugget and I are already on the trail. The world is quiet. The grass is still wet from the morning dew. The only sounds are birds waking up and a Golden Retriever who is convinced every walk might lead to a new adventure.
As summer arrives, those early miles become more important. Dogs don't handle heat the same way we do, and a walk that feels comfortable for us can quickly become uncomfortable for them. That's why our schedule changes this time of year. Earlier mornings mean cooler temperatures, safer conditions, and a much happier Nugget.
On this particular morning, the sun was just beginning to rise over the field as we started our walk. Nugget was wearing his Beast Harness and Nuggy LED Light, two pieces of gear that have become part of our daily routine. The harness gives me the control I need when excitement takes over, and the LED light helps keep him visible during those low-light morning adventures.
