Why I Left Camp Clucker Behind in Hawaii

Why I Left Camp Clucker Behind in Hawaii

When I packed for Hawaii, I made one decision that probably made a lot of people scratch their heads—I packed Camp Clucker. By now, he's become more than just a squeaky toy. He's part of the adventure, and wherever he goes, he has a way of making people smile.

Over the course of the trip, Camp Clucker traveled more than 6,000 miles. He visited black sand beaches, watched incredible sunsets over the Pacific Ocean, explored lava fields, and even stood beside an active volcano. To the best of my knowledge, I might be the only person who's ever stood beside an active volcano holding a rubber chicken. 😂🌋🐔 Everywhere we went, people laughed, pointed, smiled, or simply shook their heads wondering what they had just witnessed.

As the trip came to an end, I realized Camp Clucker's Hawaiian adventure didn't have to end with mine. Before heading to the airport, I left him at the beach house along with a handwritten note explaining who he was and inviting the next guests to enjoy him. My hope was simple: maybe another family's dog would discover a new favorite toy, or maybe a child would pick him up, laugh, and instantly have a story to tell.

I'd love it if the next family tagged Nuggy Dog Co. so we could see where Camp Clucker's journey takes him next. But even if I never hear another word about him, I'm perfectly okay with that. Just knowing he might make someone's vacation a little brighter is enough for me.

Sometimes the best souvenirs aren't the ones we bring home. They're the smiles we leave behind, the stories we create, and the memories we share with complete strangers. Here's to Camp Clucker's next adventure—I have a feeling it won't be his last.
